Workshop on legal rights

Team Saathi (National Alliance of People's Movements),

A workshop was held on 9 April with Khori Gaon residents to discuss the legal rights of people and what options are available to them. The book ‘Aam Admi aur Kanoon‘ (Common man and law) was also discussed.

The workshop focused on the fundamentals of safeguarding laws. The session was designed to encourage interactions and healthy debate on laws and challenges faced by Khori Gaon residents. The discussion revolved around the process of filing FIR, the nature of crime and its category, rights during the arrest, state and national complaint redressal departments, women’s rights etc were covered. The workshop was facilitated by Amit Kumar.

We are a group of activists and academics working in the field of environment, housing and informality who came together to join Khori Gaon residents in their long fight for justice. This collaboration we have undertaken with the residents is called Saathi which means comrade in Hindi.
